What is a return vehicle and how can it help my business?

Backhaul or the return journey service involves hiring lorries and/or vans that have completed a delivery and are about to return to their city of origin.

It involves planning a route based on suppliers who wish to make use of the return space for their cargo, thereby preventing the vehicle from travelling empty.

This operational practice is increasingly being adopted by logistics providers in our country, improving the quality of the service on offer and contributing to the sector’s logistical competitiveness. However, following the current coronavirus health crisis, the use of this service has declined, particularly during the lockdown period, as the restrictions imposed by the authorities dealt a severe blow, especially to long-distance transport.
