Initial situation

A manufacturer and supplier of dimensional measurement solutions with more than 30 years of experience in the market contacted us for a direct road transport service involving industrial machinery with several special requirements.

The company specialises in industrial metrology integration projects for manufacturing facilities. It also distributes 3D scanners, industrial measurement equipment, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), portable measuring arms and other technologies nationally and internationally to meet the most demanding quality control requirements.

The challenge

The metrology company contacted us late on Friday because they needed to arrange a direct shipment of fragile, non-stackable goods from their facilities in Zaragoza to their end customer in northern France.

The shipment consisted of several packages of different sizes, including a large wooden crate, palletised tooling and a special wheeled trolley. The total weight of the shipment was 600 kg.

Before their facilities closed for the day, and with the goods already prepared, we positioned a box-body vehicle with a maximum payload of 1,000 kg.

The vehicle travelled directly to its destination, with no unnecessary stops beyond the required transit time. The goods were delivered over the weekend to the French company, where a specialist technician was waiting to install the equipment that same day.

However, delivery on Saturday or Sunday was essential, so the final choice was our door-to-door service.
