Brexit and changes in road transport

We are now in the final countdown of negotiations between London and Brussels, as they continue working towards an agreement on the UK’s departure from the European Union. This week is crucial for London to submit a revised proposal so that the EU27 can approve an agreement at the summit on 17 October.

If no agreement is reached by then, a no-deal Brexit on 31 October would be inevitable. This decision will affect logistics and distribution operations across Europe.

This uncertainty stems from the lack of reliable information about the potential impact, creating confusion in many areas, particularly in road and air freight transport.

What is certain is that, from the date of Brexit onwards, a new logistics landscape will emerge between the European Union and the United Kingdom. Different trading arrangements will apply, including additional customs checks and import and export regulations. All of this will result in greater bureaucracy and, consequently, slower logistics processes.

Nevertheless, at EMDIPA we have an extensive network and considerable experience in the direct transport of goods, including road and air freight.
