5 Tips for transporting goods in summer
We are committed to overcoming the seasonal nature of the transport industry and continue operating as normal throughout the holiday period to support the thousands of companies that need freight transport services, which can be particularly difficult to find at this time of year, especially when urgent transport is required.
At EMDIPA, we meet delivery deadlines even despite the traffic restrictions and congestion that are common at this time of year.

Despite traffic restrictions and the congestion typically associated with the holiday season, EMDIPA meets the delivery deadlines agreed with its customers. Punctuality is one of the company’s defining qualities, and we keep it firmly in mind with every transport service we undertake.
We are also aware of the additional challenges our drivers and partners face when travelling at this time of year, so here are some driving tips:
Keep your tyres properly inflated
Tyre blowouts are particularly common in extreme heat. Keeping your tyres at the recommended pressure will help minimise the risk of unnecessary blowouts on the road. In addition, lorries tend to cover more miles at this time of year, so tyres may be subject to greater wear and should be inspected regularly.
Check your brakes
High temperatures can cause increased brake wear or brake fade when braking components are no longer able to dissipate the additional heat effectively. Check the condition of your lorry’s brakes frequently and carry out safety checks before starting a journey.
Plan for the weather
Summer can bring beautiful blue skies as well as severe storms, and conditions can change very quickly. Check the weather forecast in advance to avoid possible thunderstorms or other adverse weather conditions. Where possible, consider taking an alternative route to your final destination.
Protect yourself from the sun
You may be familiar with the dreaded “driver’s arm” — when the left arm becomes noticeably more tanned or sunburnt than the right due to prolonged exposure to the sun. But beyond an unwanted tan, failing to protect your skin properly from the sun can have serious health consequences. Using sun shades or window coverings can help protect you from harmful UV rays. A high-SPF sunscreen is also strongly recommended; apply it before setting off and reapply it every two hours. And remember to keep a good pair of sunglasses in the glove compartment.
Stay hydrated and eat well
It is easy to forget the importance of drinking water while on the road, but staying hydrated is essential for your health. Drinking water regularly is one of the best ways to help prevent heat-related illness. It is also advisable to eat healthy, light meals.
We hope you find these tips useful!
Our aim is to ensure that both our team on the road and the goods we transport reach the companies that rely on our services safely and successfully.
